In an Australian first, the ACT government has voted for a ban on fossil fuel sponsorships in the Territory’s schools.
After the Greens introduced a motion, the Legislative Assembly voted in favour of a ban on fossil fuel and gambling companies from sponsoring school programs from next year (2026).
There’s more than 60 fossil fuel-sponsored school programs across the country – which are used to improve the image of the industry and give often one-sided information about energy and climate change.
