Description

Chief editor of Dutch newspaper Trouw declared that he wants his newspaper to ban ads from the fossil fuel industry and for air travel. He writes this in an editorial in 2021 in which he reflects on the talk he and his publisher had with Reclame Fossielvrij. The publisher has promised to discuss it with the board of DPG Media.

History of action

Reclame Fossielvrij talked to the editor-in-chief of Trouw and the publisher DPG Media. Reclame Fossielvrij handed the newspaper representatives a booklet with 65 quotes by Trouw readers, calling Trouw to quit fossil ads. Among them some religious leaders, as Trouw is a religious newspaper.

Also, at the 2021 edition of the Trouw Duurzame 100 (an event celebrating the best 100 sustainability citizens' initiatives), Reclame Fossielvrij celebrated a place in the top 3. At the main stage, they called for Trouw to end fossil ads.

At the 2022 edition of the Trouw Duurzame 100, they handed out flyers with a call to email the editor DPG Media to stop fossil ads.
