Description
In January 2021, ClientEarth launched a campaign against greenwashing in Poland, challenging the trade name ”eco-pea” used by coal producers. The trade name “eco-pea” is frequently used by Polish coal producers to describe a small fraction coal used for home heating. Furthermore they often use nature related motives and images on “eco-pea” coal packagings.Using lab tests and polling, ClientEarth has shown that reality does not match the clean, green impression given by the label. People have been misled into thinking the trade name means the coal they’re buying is more eco-friendly.
First legal action against one of the producers using the misleading trade name has been taken in spring 2021, but the first hearing hasn’t taken place yet.
