Description
The Finnish Animal party (Animal Justice party) has organized citizens’ initiatives to demand “more ethical outdoor advertisement”.
The key demand is that the city or municipality in question “should start limiting ecologically and ethically unsustainable advertising in its own advertising spaces. In the future, advertising must exclude products and services that are considered ecologically and ethically unsustainable when drawing up rental agreements for advertising and advertising equipment locations.”
These citizens' initiatives were launched in multiple Finnish municipalities, including Oulu, Tampere, Turku, Jyväskylä, Vantaa, Espoo, Rovaniemi, Lohja, Kotka and Parainen. You can check out one of the citizen's initiatives to ban climate harming ads here.
The citizens' initiatives to ban climate harming ads have listed four categories that should be banned:
- Animal products.
- Climate damaging traffic, meaning flights and privately owned cars.
- Fossil energy sources, including advertisements of companies that produce energy with fossil fuels.
- Fast fashion.
