Description
The Dutch Drents Museum remains one of the last museums in the Netherlands with fossil ties. They are sponsored by the NAM, which 50% Shell and 50% ExxonMobile. The NAM is responsible for oil and gas exploration in The Netherlands and together with the Dutch government responsible for countless earth quakes that damaged Dutch homes in the Northern part of the Netherlands.
NAM tries to clean up its image by sponsoring the local Drents Museum. Fossil Free Culture (FFC) delivered already a statement in 2018 to the Drents Museum to cut ties with NAM. Extinction Rebellion NL also staged two actions at the Museum, one in 2022 staging 'greenwashing' outside the museum and a die-in in 2023. Up to now, the Drents Museum is still sponsored by NAM.
