What: A motion to ban fossil ads in was adopted. However, due to covid, existing contracts with advertising operators were prolongued, according to theĀ municipality website of Enschede.

Passed motion
The motion was put forward by the Green party (GroenLinks) and was supported by the Labour party (PvdA), ChristenUnie, D66, Socialist party (SP), CDA and DENK. It instructs the board to:
- To investigate how advertising and marketing events for fossil products and services can be countered in public spaces;
- In doing so, to give priority to phasing out advertising for companies working primarily in the fossil industry, advertising for airline holidays and for the most polluting cars;
- When awarding contracts and new contracts for advertising in public make it a condition that no advertising for fossil products and services will be displayed;
- Enter into discussions with the current operators of advertising in the public space, to see if there are possibilities to already earlier phase out advertisements for fossil products and services;
- To inform the council as soon as possible, but at the latest before the summer budget 2022, of the informed of the outcome of these discussions and any costs arising from them.
