In a second action period to gather signatures for the European Citizen’s Initiative to Ban Fossil Ads and Sponsorships, activists in 7 countries and 15 cities replaced 500 commercial ads. The satirical ads targeted the airline and airport industry, criticizing ‘sustainable aviation fuels’ (accounting for 0.05% of global jet fuel consumption), irresponsible offsetting schemes and airport expansions. Groups also did cover up actions and online campaigns to gather signatures.
