A Legal Opinion for local councils in the UK which assessed the legal grounds for introducing a Low Carbon Advertising Policy on advertising sites they manage. The Opinion finds that curbing adverts for environmentally-damaging products and lifestyles, such as cars, airlines and fossil fuel companies would be lawful, rational and proportionate, that there is good grounds to do so. The resource also finds that councils have broad scope to design their policies according to council priorities, despite the current lack of a national standard for 'high-carbon'.
The resource was commissioned by the New Weather Institute for Badvertising and Adfree Cities.
