Description

A ban on fossil ads as first step to prevent advertising from worsening the climate-, ecological and other crises that advertising exacerbates. David Cormand, member of the European Parliament for the Greens, is fighting harmful advertising in Brussels.

  • In 2020 mr Cormand proposed to ban fossil ads for the first time in the EU. His proposal was rejected.
  • In May 2023 the European Parliament adopted amendments (ao from the Greens and S&D) which made the EU law proposal to fight greenwashing stronger.
  • In May 2023, mr Cormand launched his campaign "We Skip Ads" to ban fossil ads as a first step of tackling the multiple harmful effects of advertising.
