A majority of Dutch young people want an end to meat advertising, air travel and the fossil fuel industry, according to an advice report by Unicef.
Relevant sections from the advice:
YOUTH & CLIMATE
1. Stop advertising polluting stuff, food and travel. Make sure everyone better understands the impact of eating meat or travelling by plane on the climate.
Don't advertise meat, flies or the fossil industry and give people the right information about how products are made. Reduce the use of products or services that are bad for the climate.
We believe it is important that people understand how these products or services contribute to climate change. For example by learning about them at school. Or because it is on the packaging in the supermarket It says. How much water, energy and fodder it takes for a hamburger. Or how certain pieces of clothing are made. A kind of nutri-score (a choice logo on packaging), but about climate impact. So people can make their own choice with the right information. It could also help to have a ban on advertising for these things, for example for meat. Then people will be less tempted to buy it.
